Wood chip is an important kind of materials for export in Vietnam wood Industry. But the production of this product meets some difficulties that need to be solved.
According to wood producers they select trunks having diameter of exceeding 15 cm to make saw-timber, 10 - 15 cm to make veneers, and less than 10 cm to make wood chip, wood pellets, or MDF panels. In addition, wood chip is also made from wood scrap, branches....
According to Vietnam Timber and Forest Product Association, Vietnam exported 11.3 tons of wood chip in 2020 and achieved 1.45 billion US dollars in which Chinese market took over 70%. The second importer of wood chip from Vietnam is Japan which spent over 390 million US dollars.
Wood chip can be exploited from sandal, acacia trees. Wood chip of sandal and acacia trees is material for input of making wood pellets in Vietnam
